Welcome to Sammamish

Peaceful small town surrounded by bucolic open space.

The city of Sammamish is nestled between Lake Sammamish and the Snoqualmie Valley east of Seattle in King County. The area was almost entirely rural until the 1970s, yet it retains a peaceful small-town vibe with exceptional bucolic scenery. Real estate in Sammamish consists of large contemporary single-family housing. The most prized homes are those located along the lakeshore and rising into the hillsides to Sammamish’s east, where stunning architecture combines with breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape.

Pine Lake Village is Sammamish’s main retail hub, with a selection of stores, restaurants, and local services. Businesses here include a Starbucks, Quality Food Centers grocery store, and cozy Japanese eatery Himitsu Teriyaki and Sushi. Sammamish Highlands retail center has several fast-food spots, comfort food at the 1940s fishing lodge-style Sammamish Café and Spirits, Mod Pizza for tasty build-your-own pizzas, and a Safeway supermarket. Near the lakeshore, you’ll find Nana Beth’s Cookies, which bakes custom cookies for any occasion.

Sammamish has lots of parks and open space. Lake Sammamish State Park at the southern end of Lake Sammamish has swimming beaches, fishing creeks, and businesses offering kayak and boat rentals. More than a dozen other parks and smaller lakes are dotted throughout Sammamish. Pine Lake Park has a boat launch, fishing docks, two playgrounds, and sports fields and courts. 54-acre Beaver Lake Park is another popular fishing spot and has play structures, barbeque grills, and an off-leash dog area. 12 miles of trails run through the 600-acre Soaring Eagle Regional Park to Sammamish’s east. The scenery here includes mature forests and wetlands with wildlife habitats for black bears, bobcats, and blacktail deer. To Sammamish’s southeast is Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park, which has miles of biking trails across a 120-acre area of verdant forestry. Sahalee Country Club provides members with three exceptional nine-hole golf courses. These challenging courses are lined with towering evergreen trees and have hosted major tournaments, including the 1998 PGA Championship.

Sammamish is served by the Lake Washington School District. Top-performing public schools include Smith and Carson Elementary schools and Inglewood and Pine Lake Middle schools.
