Welcome to Kirkland

Lake Washington community with major tech companies.

Kirkland is a vibrant King County city located on the shores of Lake Washington to the east of Seattle. This diverse community offers a commercial area with great shopping and dining, a strong local economy with offices of major firms such as Microsoft and Google, and an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Kirkland is a pedestrian-friendly community, and many of its homes are within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Here, the most sought-after properties are those overlooking the lake, which tend to be snapped up soon after appearing on the market. Housing styles range from charming single-family homes in quiet neighborhoods to modern apartment buildings and grand contemporary properties along the lakeshore that exhibit the best in cutting-edge design.

Kirkland’s downtown Lake Street and Juanita districts have a wide variety of international eateries, boutique shops, and art galleries. On Lake Street, enjoy Pacific Northwest-style seafood at Anthony’s Homeport, creative twists on traditional Asian cuisine at Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen, or head to the Hemingway-themed Bottle and Bull for happy hour drinks and craft cocktails. Located on the lakeshore and close to Juanita Bay and Juanita Beach parks, Juanita Village’s dining choices include the highly-rated Café Juanita. Café Juanita specializes in Northern Italian-style fine dining, where dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients are paired with outstanding wines from the Northwest vinicultural region.

Kirkland has more parks and lakefront beaches than any other Puget Sound community. Juanita Beach Park has an enclosed swimming area and a public dock that dips into Lake Washington. It also has lighted tennis courts, little league baseball fields, a beach volleyball court, and fishing areas. Juanita Bay Park has boardwalks, trails, and viewing platforms that allow you to get close to the nature of the shoreline wetlands. On the east side of the lake, follow trails through natural scenery at Kiwanis Park, explore the gardens surrounding Heritage Hall at Heritage Park, or enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and windsurfing at Waverly Beach Park.

Kirkland is served by the Lake Washington School District. Top local schools include Kirk and Twain Elementary schools, Kirkland Middle School, and the Environmental & Adventure Magnet Middle School.
