Welcome to Bothell

Suburban city with biotech firms and unique dining options.

Bothell is a suburban city that straddles King and Snohomish counties to Seattle’s northeast. Bothell offers lots of parks and outdoor recreation space, great shopping and dining options, and high-quality public schools. The community was largely agricultural until the mid-20th century when new housing developments began springing up alongside Interstate 450 and State Route 522. Many residents commute into Seattle and other Puget Sound cities. However, there are also plenty of employment opportunities in the area, including a University of Washington campus and an industrial center at Canyon Park, which provides around 20,000 jobs in biotech and other high-tech industries. Bothell is subdivided into many peaceful neighborhoods of spacious single-family homes, while other housing options include modern townhouses and luxurious contemporary custom-builds in a variety of styles.

In recent years, Bothell’s historic downtown area has benefitted from a major $150 million revitalization plan. Main Street, Bothell Way, and Beardslee Boulevard are lined with numerous retail, dining, and entertainment choices. Since the 1930s, Hillcrest Bakery has been a local favorite for freshly-baked bread and Dutch-style pastries. Other Main Street highlights include Revolve Food & Wine for organic eats and an extensive wine list and The Hop & Hound for a rotating craft beer lineup in a stylish space with outdoor seating. McMenamin’s Anderson School on Bothell Way has transformed a 1930s high school into a modern playground for all ages. Facilities here include several bars and restaurants that serve beer brewed on-site, live music venues, a movie theater, and a swimming pool. The nearby Amaro Bistro is a lively spot that serves authentic Tuscan-style Italian dishes. Head to the Beardslee Public House on Beardslee Boulevard for craft beers and creative New American eats in a modern industrial-chic setting. Wildwood Spirits Co. offers tastings of its unique distilled spirits, which are made with locally-sourced ingredients.

On the Sammamish River, you’ll find The Park at Bothell Landing, a relaxed greenspace with tree-lined lawns and children’s play equipment. Discover exhibits on local history at the park’s Bothell Historical Museum or rent a kayak and explore the Sammamish River. Located on the banks of the Sammamish is Bothell’s largest park—the 40-acre Blyth Park. Facilities here include a volleyball court, a children’s playground, an 18-hole disc golf course, and trails.

Bothell is served by the Northshore School District. Top local schools include Shelton View and Fernwood Elementary schools, Skyview and Canyon Park Middle schools, and North Creek High School.
